Wilted Petals by Savvy Rose
Updated: Jan 23, 2022
Wilted Petals is a short and sweet novella that will take you less than an hour to read. Well written and captivating, Rose proves that a book doesn't have to have a massive word count in order to tell a beautiful story. Petals is erotic without being uncomfortable, dark without being depressing. I absolutely loved the concept and can't wait to read the POV from a different character in her follow-up novella, Chaotic Delusions. Before we talk to Savvy Rose, let's read the synopsis for Wilted Petals:
Hyacinth, a sweet girl next door who devotes her time to her father and stressful job, generally spends her weekends shouted in a purple haze and avoiding her boring husband.
Enter Devina, a pathological liar who is unable to accept her shrinks diagnosis, seeks Colorado's many dispensaries for a homeopathic treatment.
A chance encounter leaves Devina pining for Hyacinth, taking full advantage of Hyacinth's unhappy marriage full of doubts.
Treading the line of betrayal lightly, the two explore their heated connection in secret.
The pair are quickly blinded by their own desires and Devina grows impatient with their twisted situation. Hyacinths reluctance to accept her true self pushes Devina over the edge and into a possessive mania that will forever change both of their lives.
J.C. - I am so glad to talk to you today Savvy Rose. Before we start the interview, can you introduce yourself to our readers?
S.R. - Thanks so much for asking me to be a part of your Indie features! I write romance, my two most recent books were Dark Romances and my current WIP is a Paranormal romance. I’m a wife and a mom, and I use writing as a way to escape (much like reading!)
J.C. - Wilted Petals is a short, dark erotic story. What made you come up with the idea?
S.R. - I saw another new author make an Instagram post about taking small steps before becoming a published author. I was having a hard time completing an entire novel, so I thought I would start small and aim for something shorter. The idea for that story came from a female who stalked me out of jealousy. I tweaked it with my wild imagination, and Hyacinth and Devina were born.
J.C. - What made you want to become an erotica/romance writer?
S.R. - I stumbled upon sex in literature probably too young. I would say around twelve. It wasn’t long before I started looking for it (insert laugh here!) I started writing poetry and short stories in middle school, so I have always enjoyed writing. I guess maybe it’s because it’s what I enjoy reading, so I wanted to write what I loved.
J.C. - Hyacinth, the main character, is a strong, successful woman. Tell us why you write only about strong women?
S.R. - I’m so glad you asked me this! I have four daughters, and I get tired of seeing the ‘helpless maiden’ trope in romance novels. I teach my daughters to be strong and to speak their minds, so essentially- it’s what I want for my characters as well.
J.C. - Regardless of her strength, Hyacinth is miserable in her marriage. She has a secret that is preventing her from being happy. How important is it for you to live your true life?
S.R. - This is something I take very seriously. It is probably why I wrote about this particular topic. I was in an abusive/miserable relationship at one time, and I ended up choosing my truth in order to live my best life. Sometimes that’s a very hard decision to make.
J.C. -Do you believe in love at first sight?
S.R. - I don’t believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in lust at first sight. I think Hyacinth and Devina’s insta-love was insta-lust that grew into something more because of Devina’s obsessive behavior and Hyacinth’s need to live her truth.
J.C. - Who has been your biggest support system while on your writing adventure?
S.R. - I should probably answer with my husband- he has made this all possible for me to do financially and caring for our children while I write. BUT, Ashlyn Drewek has been my biggest writing support so far. She is a briliiant writer and person, and she has helped me with all the steps it takes to be an Indie author. We work well together and have a similar writing style.
J.C. - Finish the sentence. In ten years I’d like to …
S.R. - In ten years I’d like to be a home owner (finally!) and have about ten books under my belt.
J.C. -Chaotic Delusions is the companion to Wilted Petals and is told by the point of view of another character. What made you want to write it and when will it be released?
S.R. - Chaotic Delsuions is available now on Ebook and BOTH stories are available together in paperback. The title of the paperback is Tangled Garden. I chose to write the other characters POV because I hope to incorporate multiple POVs in my upcoming books. Twice as Twisted will be released this summer and I will be writing that in three.
J.C. - Lastly, where can readers find you and your work?
S.R. - All my work can be found on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. I am offering signed paperbacks on my website! www.savvyroseuthor.com
